So what is a Power Flush?
Power Flushing is the aggressive cleaning of the inside of your central heating system, with the use of chemical agents and an external machine/filter.
Over time oxygen present in the water contained in your central heating system will slowly corrode any iron or steel components of the system (radiators, heat exchanger etc.). This gradually builds up in the bottom of your radiators, reducing their efficiency causing higher energy bills and increasing the chance of breakdowns.
Love Your Boiler use the MagnaCleanse Rapid flush system, which reduces the time taken to perform an effective Power Flush, in turn reducing the cost to the customer.
Check out the short video below which illustrates how a Power Flush is performed and the benefits of Power Flushing.
If you’ve ever removed or bled a radiator and the water was black, your system needs Power Flushing.
Here are a few pictures from our most recent Power Flush in Sheffield
The above images show contaminated water from the central heating system entering the Power Flush machine where it is filtered, and the Magnetite (sometimes referred to as sludge) is removed from the primary water circuit.
The filter can be periodically cleaned throughout the Power Flushing process depending on the severity of the contamination.
The black sludge you see attached to the vertical magnetic rod is the Magnetite from the central heating system. This black sludge can block pipe-work or heat exchangers and burn out motors, resulting in costly repairs. If the root cause of these problems is not addressed then the repairs may be needed time and time again. Magnetite can also cause your radiators to become less efficient by settling in the bottom, reducing the effective surface area of the radiator.
Love Your Boiler supply and install boilers that have a manufactures warranty of 7 to 10 years as standard. However if your boiler breaks down due to water contaminated with Magnetite the repair will not always be covered by the manufactures warranty.
If you’re having a new boiler installed it is recommended, by all leading boiler manufacturers, that the existing central heating system be thoroughly cleaned to reduce the risk of damage to the new boiler.
